In West London Pro-Active West London Partnership has a strategic role in promoting community sport and physical activity in partnership with the WLA boroughs who are major providers of sport and leisure facilities and activities. The West London Sports Development Officers, Chief Leisure Officers and Pro-Active West London meet regularly to co-ordinate activity and collaborate on shared objectives.
A major driver to increase participation in sport, sporting excellence and physical activity will be the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. West London is developing a programme of activities leading up to and stretching beyond 2012 and more detail on this can be found here on this web site.
More about the Partnership
Pro-Active West London is one of five Partnerships in London. Its overall purpose is to develop and enhance existing and establish new partnerships and ways of working using sport and physical activity as a catalyst to bring about positive social and economic well being of local communities. It focuses on increasing participation and the widening of access for the whole community. In particular the Partnership seeks to:
•Strategically support local boroughs, agencies, national governing bodies, health & education and community organisations to deliver and widen opportunities and access for all to participate in sport and physical activity
•Identify how local and sub regional partners can link with national and regional policy and strategies
•Identify clear priorities for the development of sport and physical activity at a local and sub regional level
•Identify ways in which these priorities can be achieved
The Partnership is hosted by Brunel University and covers the six West London boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.
The team at Pro-Active West London consists of a Director, two Partnership Managers, London 2012 Legacy Manager, Marketing & Communications Manager and a Business Support Officer. The team also includes a Disability Officer to support key aims and objectives of Inclusive & Active.
